haberfield house
Drawing on the owners’ love of Japanese culture, we reinterpreted this house using many principles found in Japanese homes. Traditional Japanese timber elements are given an Australian expression through the use of recycled native hardwood posts and beams. The floor level at the rear of the house has been lowered to better connect the living areas with the established garden. A window seat under the bifold windows allows the garden to be enjoyed as part of the living area and brings the outside in.
